Gallaudet picks up two big conference wins during NEAC Crossover Day

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team picked up two key North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) games here Saturday as GU hosted six conference matches on two courts.

Gallaudet (14-12, 6-2 NEAC) moved into a tie of second place in the NEAC South Division with its victories over SUNY Poly and SUNY Cobleskill.

The Bison dropped the first set to SUNY Poly 22-25 to begin the day but the buff and blue didn't lose another set the rest of the way. GU rallied and won 25-17, 26-24, 25-21 over the Wildcats (7-12, 4-3 NEAC). After a break, Gallaudet made quick work of SUNY Cobleskill (7-11, 2-5 NEAC) with a 25-7, 25-12, 25-15 win to end the afternoon.

Morrisville State College (16-3, 7-1 NEAC) picked up two wins on Saturday with clean sweeps over Penn St.-Abington (9-14, 3-4 NEAC) and Wilson College (1-13, 1-6 NEAC). SUNY Poly defeated Penn St.-Abington in four sets, 3-1, while Cobleskill won in five sets over Wilson, 3-2.


  • Senior outside hitter Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.) had 14 kills, nine digs and three block assists against SUNY Poly
  • Sophomore Adele Daniels (Austin, Texas) passed out 36 assists and made 15 digs in the two matches
  • Junior Shua Clay (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) was a force in the middle with 10 blocks (five solo) against the Wildcats

Gallaudet continues its lenghty homestand with a non-conference match with University of Mary Washington (12-9) on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.
