WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team was swept by University of Mary Washington here Wednesday night in the Field House as the visiting Eagles won 25-14, 25-14, 25-17.

Gallaudet (14-13) kept things close midway through the second and third sets before Mary Washington (13-9) pulled away to complete the clean sweep.

Senior outside hitter Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.) led the Bison attack with 10 kills and four digs while sophomore Adele Daniels (Austin, Texas) added six kills and 15 assists. Junior middle hitter Shua Clay (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) matched Daniels with six kills to go with one block solo and one block assist.

Mary Washington was led by Leslie Walters' 12 kills and five digs while Peyton Dunow added 10 kills and eight digs.


  • Junior libero Raelyn Fuechtmann (South St. Paul, Minn.) had a game-high 13 digs
  • Fuechtmann has now matched her career-high for digs in a season (394) set in 2015
  • Daniels surpassed 500 career digs this evening
  • Freshman setter Kameron Kinast (Austin, Texas) passed out 11 assists
  • GU had three aces

Gallaudet continues its seven-game homestand on Friday, Oct. 20, when it hosts University of Scranton and Lebanon Valley College (LVC) in a tri-match in the Field House. GU will face Scranton (29-2) at 2 p.m., Scranton and LVC (13-10) will play at 4 p.m., followed by GU hosting LVC at 6 p.m.
