Gallaudet sweeps NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Oct. 1 and Gallaudet University swept the honors. Junior Adele Daniels (Austin, Texas) was named Women's Volleyball Player of the Week while sophomore Karita Lewis (Frederick, Md.) was picked as the Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

Daniels recorded doubles-doubles in all six matches of a 4-2 week for the Bison. The junior outside hitter totaled 82 kills, 110 digs, nine service aces, eight blocks and four assists. She totaled 96.5 points and finished the week with a .195 hitting percentage. Daniels also matched a career-high with 25 digs in a 3-1 NEAC win over Penn St.-Abington.

Lewis recorded 10 blocks (one solo) to go with 60 kills and 88 digs in six matches (22 sets). In addition to recording double-digit digs in five of six matches and averaging 4.00 digs per set, Lewis added nine assists and eight service aces.

This is Gallaudet's first and second NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors this season. This is the second NEAC weekly honor for Daniels in her career while this is Lewis' first conference award.
