GU's Karita Lewis selected as NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Oct. 15 and Gallaudet University sophomore middle hitter Karita Lewis (Frederick, Md.) was named Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.

Lewis tallied 45 kills, 42 digs, six service aces, five blocks and two assists in a 3-1 week for the Bison. Lewis earned her second weekly award and first offensive honor of the season after beginning the week with three straight double-doubles. Lewis finished the week with 53.5 points and a .307 hitting percentage for the Bison.

Morrisville State College junior Sam Wolf was named NEAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after setting a new school record. Wolf compiled 92 digs in four matches and averaged 7.08 digs per set in a 3-1 week. She also added one kill, 18 assists and eight aces. In Saturday's five-set win over Rowan, Wolf became the first player in program history to collect 1,500 digs.

This is Gallaudet's third NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors this season. This is the second NEAC weekly honor for Lewis in her career and this season.

GU will make the short trip to Arlington, Va, on Tuesday, Oct. 16, for a non-conference match against Marymount University (19-3) at 7 p.m.
