GU drops first NEAC match this season in debut at LBC

LANCASTER, Pa. - Gallaudet University will not forget its first appearance at Lancaster Bible College for women's volleyball as the Bison were upset by the Chargers 3-1 here Friday night in the Horst Athletic Center. The Bison took its first loss in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play this season and suffered the first loss to the Chargers in 12 tries.

Gallaudet (10-10, 4-1 NEAC) dropped the first set 18-25 before it knotted things at 1-1 after a 25-21 second set win. The Chargers stormed back and closed out the match 20-25 and 20-25.

Junior outside hitter Adele Daniels (Austin, Texas) recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs. Freshman setter Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) passed out 23 assists, nine digs and two service aces. Senior middle hitter Shua Clay (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) added seven kills and three block assists. Junior Farrah Harmount (Union City, Calif.) made a team-high 18 digs while sophomore Karita Lewis (Frederick, Md.) came up with 15 digs.

Lancaster Bible (12-5, 5-0 NEAC) matched its win total (12) from last year with tonight's victory. Ashtyn Bouslog led the Chargers with 14 kills while Allison Shuey passed out a match-high 30 assists and 10 digs for a double-double.

Gallaudet will try and bounce back tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 6) with two NEAC matches at LBC against Wells College (9-8, 4-1 NEAC) and Keuka College (8-12, 4-1 NEAC) at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
