ARLINGTON, Va. - The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team saw its three-match win streak snapped here Tuesday night to the hands of Marymount (Va.) University in a straight set sweep, 13-25, 21-25, 24-26, in a non-conference match.
Gallaudet (14-13) bounced back in the second and third sets after they came out flat in the first set. The Bison almost pushed Marymount (20-3) to a fourth set in the third set but the Saints scored the final two points after the set was knotted at 24-24.
Junior outside hitter Adele Daniels (Austin, Texas) led the Bison with 13 kills, 11 digs and two aces. Sophomore middle hitter Karita Lewis (Frederick, Md.) tallied nine kills and 11 digs. Freshman setter Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) passed out 33 assists and three blocks in the loss.
Marymount reached the 20-win plateau for the 12th time in program history. Myah Cordrey led the Saints with 12 kills and two blocks while Maggie Viniard passed out 40 assists.
- Senior middle hitter Shua Clay (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) made four blocks
- Junior libero Farrah Harmount (Union City, Calif.) came up with six digs
- Junior outside hitter Tessa Lewis (Frederick, Md.) added six kills
- Sophomore outside hitter Brynn Schmidt (Bozeman, Mont.) contributed four kills and one block
Gallaudet will next travel to Scranton, Pa., on Friday, Oct. 19, for its annual tri-meet with University of Scranton and Lebanon Valley College (LVC). GU will face Scranton at 3 p.m. followed by a match with LVC.
