GU remains perfect in conference play with road win over Penn St.-Abington

ABINGTON, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team traveled to Penn St.-Abington here Wednesday night and came away with a 3-1 victory between the two North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foes. Gallaudet won the first set 25-15 before the host Nittany Lions stormed back to win the second set, 28-30. GU regrouped and closed out the match with 25-18 and 25-15 set wins.

Gallaudet (7-7, 4-0 NEAC) junior outside hitter Adele Daniels (Austin, Texas) led the Bison with 21 kills and 25 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Karita Lewis (Frederick, Md.) matched Daniels with her own double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs to go with four aces. Freshman setter Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) passed out 33 assists and served up three aces.

Penn St.-Abington (3-14, 0-5 NEAC) was led by sophomore outside hitter Lauren O'Keeffe's 11 kills.


  • Senior Shua Clay (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) made five blocks (two solo)
  • Sophomore Brynn Schmidt (Bozeman, Mont.) made three blocks (two solo)
  • Junior Farrah Harmount (Union City, Calif.) tallied 15 digs
  • GU served up nine aces

Gallaudet returns home and will host St. Mary's College of Maryland (11-5) in a non-conference match tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 27) at 7 p.m.
