FREDERICK Md. - The Gallaudet University women's cross country team concluded its regular-season schedule here Saturday on a beautiful fall day at Utica Park in Frederick, Md. The Bison finished 13th overall at the Hood College Cross Country Open.
The Bison were one of 14 teams to compete in the 6K open and scored a total of 364 team points. Grove City College took first place in the open with 21 points. Reinhardt University took second place with 112 points and St. Mary's (Md.) College finished in third place with 117 points.
The top three finishers in the field of 119 runners all hailed from Grove City College. Lydia Keiper finished in first place as she crossed the finish line in 22 minutes, 41 seconds followed by Rachel Martin (23:19) and Heidi Hoffman (23:48) in second and third place, respectively.
Senior Kristi Luna (Austin, Texas) finished in 75th place overall and was the top finisher for the Bison with a time of 29:13. Freshman Fatuma Ali (Tucson, Ariz.), the second finisher for the Bison, took 95th place (30:48) followed by GU's third finisher junior Ivy Sahneyah (First Mesa, Ariz.) in 108th place (33:58). Sophomore Lourdes Valenzuela (Sonora, Mexico) and freshman Yudan Liu (Chengdu, China) were the last two runners to score points for the Bison. Valenzuela finished in 112th place (37:24) while Liu was two spots behind in 114th place (39:50).

- Luna was the top finisher for the Bison for the fifth straight meet
- Six runners from GU finished the 6K course
The Bison are now off until the 2016 North Eastern Athletic Conference men's and women's cross country championships that will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29, in Lancaster, Pa.
