LANCASTER, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's cross country team wrapped up its season here Saturday in the 2016 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships hosted by Lancaster Bible College. The Bison finished 11th out of 12 teams with 270 team points.
SUNY Cobleskill won its eighth straight conference championship with 25 points as four of its top five runners finished in the first six places. Emma Bayuk won the 6K race that had 92 runners with a time of 23 minutes, 21 seconds to earn 2016 NEAC Women's Runner of the Year honors.
Cazenovia College took second place with 99 points followed by Penn St.-Abington in third (125).
GU senior Kristi Luna (Austin, Texas) finished 34th overall and was the top Bison runner with a time of 28:30. Freshman Fatuma Ali (Tucson, Ariz.) finished 41st overall (29:18) and was the second Bison to finish. Junior LaQuita Carroll (Spanish Fort, Ala.) finished 58th (30:55) followed by fellow junior Ivy Sahneyah (First Mesa, Ariz.) in 76th (33:53) and sophomore Lourdes Valenzuela (Sonora, Mexico) in 82nd (36:39).
Luna was the top finisher for the Bison in all seven meets in the one year that she was a member of Gallaudet's women's cross country team.

- Freshman Rudy Sewell (Ashland, Ky.) finished 89th (40:51)
- Luna was the top finisher for the Bison in every race during the 2016 season
The Bison will lose one senior and is slated to return 12 runners next season.
