Bison begin season at Morrisville State Mustang Invitational

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University women's cross country 2017 season got underway here Saturday as the Bison ran in the Morrisville State College Mustang Invitational. The Bison had four runners complete the race but were one runner shy of earning a team place.

SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry won the meet as its top five runners finished in the top eight spots to earn 26 team points. Cazenovia College was second with 96 points as the Wildcats edged out SUNY Cobleskill (97), who was in third place. Penn College freshman Sidney Trunzo won the 6K race in 24 minutes, 46 seconds.

Gallaudet's Kristi Luna (Austin, Texas) was the first Bison to cross the finish line as she finished 39th overall with a time of 30:23.4. Sophomore Nicole Musey (Prince George, British Columbia) was 56th overall (32:18.7), sophomore Fatuma Ali (Tucson, Ariz.) was 79th (35:16.7) while senior Ivy Sahneyah (First Mesa, Ariz.) was 93rd (37:52.9).

This is the first of two trips for the Bison to the Mustang course as Morrisville St. will host the 2017 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championships at the end of October.
