TOWSON, Md. - On a muddy and root-laden course, freshman Sierra Pratt (Katy, Texas) grabbed another highlight for the Gallaudet University women's cross country team Saturday morning, as she finished in the top five at the Goucher College Classic. Pratt finished third out of 31 runners with a time of 28 minutes and 42.26 seconds.
Host Goucher won the meet with 24 team points, followed by Goucher Alumni (51 team points) and Notre Dame of Maryland University in third (68). GU finished 4th overall out of four teams with 71 team points. Goucher freshman Laila Hanson won the 6K race as she crossed the finish line in 26:19.35.
Junior Fatuma Ali (Tucson, Ariz.) was the second Bison to finish as she crossed in 14th place (32:50.65). Freshmen Maria Guzman Mejia (Bronx, N.Y.) followed next in 25th place (37:51.43), while Maydee Vande Hey (Delavan, Wis.) took 29th with time (47:00.36).
- Freshman Greyses Encarnacion (Tampa, Fla.) was the last runner to finish, in 31st place (58:18.70).
- GU only had six runners in the meet.
- Sophomore Jessalyn Wortham (Chandler, Ariz.) received a DNF (did not finish) after taking a wrong turn near the end of the rocky course.
Gallaudet will run at the Hood College Open next Saturday, Oct. 13, at Utica Park in Frederick, Md., at 10:30 a.m.
