WINCHESTER, Va. - The Gallaudet University women's cross country team finished 11th out of 12 teams at the Hornet Harrier meet Saturday hosted by Shenandoah University. The Bison accumulated 308 team points on the hilly course in Kernstown Battlefield.
Washington & Lee University won the women's 5K race with 43 team points. University of Mary Washington was second with 57 points followed by the host Hornets from Shenandoah with 76 points. Washington & Lee runner Samantha Yates won the race in 18 minutes and 44.6 seconds.
Gallaudet freshman Sierra Pratt (Katy, Texas) was the first Bison to finish in 56th place with a time of 23:54.3. Sophomore Taylor Nguyen (Ballwin, Mo.) was the second Bison to cross the finish line in 76th place (25:33.7). Junior Fatuma Ali (Tucson, Ariz.) was Gallaudet's third runner to complete the course in 28:06.3 in 91st place followed by freshman Maria Guzman Mejia (Bronx, N.Y.) in 97th place (29:25.3) and sophomore Jessalyn Wortham (Chandler, Ariz.) in 102nd place (31:52.4).
- Freshman Maydee Vande Hey (Delavan, Wis.) finished in 110th place out 111 runners with a time of 37:40.6

- The spread between Gallaudet's five scoring runners was 7:58.1
Gallaudet will run at the Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 9:45 a.m. in Winter Place Park, Md.
